From Burnout to Balance
I provide therapy that is trauma-informed, neurodivergence-affirming, and tailored to driven, capable individuals who want practical tools, compassionate support, and a clear path to resilience.

As seen on:

Hi! I'm Dr. Katie Carhart- I'm a licensed psychologist.

Working with me is…
…a space where you can exhale and be fully seen- without needing to perform, fix, or figure it all out right away.
It’s collaborative and tailored to you. I bring an integrative approach that draws from evidence-based, relational, and nervous-system-informed perspectives, while always keeping your goals and values at the center.
Some sessions may focus on understanding patterns or emotions; others might involve practical strategies, boundary work, or nervous system regulation tools.
Therapy with me is about aligning your mind, body, and choices so that life starts to feel more like yours again, more grounded, intentional, and connected.
Sometimes you feel something is missing or off, but aren't sure where to start. That's OK! You don't have to have it all figured out to begin therapy.
Areas of Focus:
Each person’s path to alignment looks different. These are some of the areas I most often help clients navigate, with curiosity, compassion, and nervous-system-informed care:
Anxiety & Overthinking: Anxiety can feel like your mind and body are always on high alert: your heart races, your thoughts loop endlessly, and even when you finally stop moving, your brain won’t turn off. On the outside, it might look like you have everything together, but inside you’re exhausted from managing it all. Our work helps calm your nervous system so your body can move out of constant fight-or-flight. Together, we’ll build awareness of your triggers, strengthen self-compassion, and develop tools that help you feel more grounded, steady, and in control of your own pace again.
Trauma & Emotional Safety: Many people who’ve lived through trauma become experts at surviving. You’ve learned how to sit in pain, push through discomfort, and hold everything together, but feeling ease, peace, or joy can feel unfamiliar or even unsafe. Our work focuses on helping your body and mind reconnect with a sense of safety so you can experience calm without bracing for what’s next. Using a relational and nervous-system-informed approach, we’ll gently explore your patterns, build regulation skills, and create space for you to live beyond survival.
Neurodivergence & ADHD: Whether you’ve been managing an ADHD diagnosis since childhood or are just beginning to wonder if you might be neurodivergent, you deserve clarity and support that honors how your brain works. Our work can help you understand your patterns, reduce shame, and create systems that actually fit you- not force you to fit them. Together, we’ll focus on self-acceptance, regulation, and finding sustainable ways to thrive in daily life. Neurodivergence can be a superpower when harnessed the right way, and learning to work with your brain can be a game changer.
Burnout & Life Transitions: Burnout can feel like running on empty, losing your motivation, or feeling detached from the parts of life you used to enjoy. You might be functioning on the outside but feel disconnected or numb inside.Whether your exhaustion comes from work, caregiving, or constant self-pressure, therapy can help you slow down, reconnect with yourself, and rebuild from a place of balance—not survival.Together, we’ll look at the systems and patterns contributing to your stress and help you realign with what truly sustains you.
Parenting Support: Parenting can bring both deep joy and deep exhaustion, especially when you’re balancing work, relationships, or your own nervous system needs. It can feel even more complex if you’re parenting a neurodivergent or special-needs child, where standard advice often doesn’t fit. Our work can help you regulate, respond with intention, and find strategies that align with both your child’s needs and your own well-being. Together, we’ll focus on connection, co-regulation, and cultivating steadiness in the moments that matter most.
Relationship Concerns: It can be painful to feel like you and your partner are having the same arguments again and again, or that you’re no longer on the same team. You may love each other deeply but still feel disconnected, unseen, or constantly misattuned. In our work together, we’ll slow things down to understand what’s really happening underneath the patterns, the needs, fears, and protective strategies driving each person’s reactions. Using an integrative, emotionally focused, and nervous-system-informed lens, I help couples and individuals build safety, communicate effectively, and reconnect with a sense of partnership and possibility.

You’ve been holding it together for a long time. It’s okay to stop running on empty.
The heart of this work
Often, therapy isn’t about learning how to live with pain, anxiety, or trauma; you’ve already been doing that. You’ve survived. The deeper work is about learning to feel safe enough in your body and nervous system to lean into joy, presence, and calm without waiting for the other shoe to drop.
In our work together, we’ll look at the patterns that shaped your nervous system’s responses to both stress and safety. We’ll build tools to help you regulate and ride out anxiety when it arises, while also creating space for you to feel more grounded, open, and connected in the moments that are good.
No matter where you are in your healing process, there’s a path forward:
-
If you’re newer to this kind of work and just sense that life doesn’t quite “fit,” we’ll start by uncovering patterns that no longer serve you, identifying relationships or routines that leave you drained, and exploring what actually lights you up. From there, we’ll map out small, practical steps toward the life you envision.
-
If you’ve been reflecting, journaling, or in therapy for years and have all the insight but still feel stuck, our work will begin in the body. We’ll focus on where your nervous system may be getting stuck in overdrive and how that impacts your ability to act, change, or feel the way you want to.
Together, we’ll identify the moments that activate your stress response and learn how to ride the wave instead of getting pulled under. Because healing isn’t just about insight; it’s about nervous system healing, self-acceptance, and learning to reclaim access to the calm, grounded version of yourself that’s already in there.
This work isn’t about becoming someone new; it’s about reconnecting with who you’ve always been underneath the overwhelm.
If you’re ready to move from surviving to truly living, I would love to meet you and talk more.
