Therapy Intensives
Focused support in one day with tools you can use immediately.
When you don’t want to wait months to feel better, a therapy intensive offers a concentrated reset. In this four-hour experience, we’ll map the patterns keeping you stuck, understand what’s happening in your nervous system and/or executive functioning, and practice tools that are designed to work with your brain and body.

You’ll leave with a personalized plan you can start using right away, plus a 45-minute follow-up session (within 2–4 weeks) to support integration and continued progress.

What is a Therapy Intensive

A therapy intensive is an extended, focused session designed to create clarity, relief, and momentum in a short period of time. Rather than spreading work out over many weekly sessions, we take a deep dive into the patterns that matter most and practice skills in real time—so they’re embodied, not just discussed.

Intensives are offered via telehealth and are best suited for adults who want structure, tools, and a clear plan forward.
Common Focus Areas
(Or we can design a blend that fits you!)

1. Somatic & Polyvagal–Focused Intensive
This focus is centered on nervous system regulation and understanding why your body reacts the way it does under stress.
Helpful if you’re experiencing:
-
Anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, or emotional reactivity
-
Shutdown, overwhelm, or feeling constantly “on edge”
-
Trauma responses or attachment-related patterns
-
Difficulty calming your body even when you “know” what to do
-
A desire for somatic, polyvagal-informed tools rather than talk-only therapy
We focus on helping your nervous system feel safer, more regulated, and more flexible—so you have greater access to choice instead of automatic reactions.

2. Executive Functioning–Focused Intensive
This focus is designed for neurodivergent minds and adults who feel overwhelmed by tasks, decisions, and follow-through.
Helpful if you’re experiencing:
-
ADHD traits, task initiation challenges, or procrastination
-
Decision fatigue, time blindness, or difficulty prioritizing
-
Burnout from forcing yourself into systems that don’t fit
-
Frustration with traditional productivity advice
-
A desire for practical, brain-friendly systems that actually stick
We focus on building realistic, neurodivergent-affirming strategies for planning, follow-through, regulation, and daily life.
3. Customized Intensives
Many clients don’t fit neatly into one category and that’s expected. During the free consultation, we can design an intensive that combines somatic/polyvagal work with executive functioning support, or centers another theme that feels most relevant to you.

Who Intensives Are For

-
Busy professionals, caregivers, students, or high-achievers who want momentum—not months of weekly therapy
-
Adults feeling overwhelmed, burned out, dysregulated, or stuck in repeating cycles
-
Neurodivergent individuals who want tools that match how their brain works
-
People who already have a therapist and want a focused skills or nervous-system boost
-
Clients who prefer structure, clarity, and actionable plans over open-ended talk therapy
Not a fit if you are currently in crisis or need a higher level of care. I’m always happy to help with referrals when another level of support is indicated.

What to expect on the day

Total time: 4 hours (with a 15‑minute break)

1. Foundation, Mapping & Goals (≈ 75 minutes)
This first phase functions as a deep, focused intake, designed to help me understand your history, patterns, and what has shaped your current experience. We begin by grounding together, reviewing your pre-intake questionnaires, and then I’ll ask targeted questions, much like an intake session, but with more time and intention, to get a clear picture of what’s going on beneath the surface.

Depending on your focus, we may explore:
-
Nervous system stress, burnout, or activation cycles
-
Executive functioning strengths and bottlenecks
-
Perfectionism, people-pleasing, or avoidance patterns
-
Emotional and relational dynamics
-
Habitual responses (freeze, overdrive, shutdown, distraction)
-
Sensory, environmental, or structural stressors
Rather than covering everything, we use this time to make sense of your patterns and identify 1–2 high-impact focus areas that will guide the rest of the intensive. Most clients leave this section already feeling clearer and more understood.
2. Nervous System Reset & Break (15 minutes)
A structured pause to support integration, hydration, movement, breathing, or stepping outside, so the deeper work lands without overload.

3. Skills, Processing & Strategy Deep-Dive (≈ 90 minutes)
This is the heart of the intensive. We move from insight to change through targeted work, which may include:
-
Polyvagal-informed regulation tools
-
Somatic grounding and anchoring
-
ADHD-friendly planning and task-initiation strategies
-
CBT/ACT tools for perfectionism, avoidance, and unhelpful thought loops
-
Emotional processing and parts-informed work
-
Boundary scripts and communication practice
-
Burnout recovery and energy-budgeting
-
Values-based goal alignment
Tools are practiced in real time, so they’re easier to use afterward.

4. Integration & Personalized Plan (≈ 30 minutes)
We weave everything together:
-
Summarizing key insights
-
Identifying your personal regulation anchors or executive functioning supports
-
Mapping a realistic 2–4 week plan
-
Creating scripts, routines, and micro-habits that fit your real life
5. Personalized Toolkit
After the intensive, you’ll receive a custom PDF summarizing:
-
Key patterns and insights
-
The exact tools we practiced
-
Your individualized action plan
This becomes your go-to reference: simple, structured, and usable.

6. Follow-Up Session (45 minutes)
Held 2–4 weeks later. We check in on what’s improved, troubleshoot challenges, refine your systems, and celebrate wins. This session supports integration and helps the changes stick long after the intensive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I submit this to insurance?
No. Because of the extended, bundled format, intensives are private pay only and do not come with a superbill.
I already have a therapist. Can I still do an intensive?
Yes. Many clients come for a focused skills boost and return to ongoing therapy with new tools. With your permission, I can coordinate with your therapist.

What if I realize I need longer-term care?
We’ll discuss options, which may include moving into ongoing therapy with me if you are interested in that format and feel it would be a good fit. I can also provide referrals to other trusted providers if together we feel another modality would be a better match.

How should I prepare?
Complete your questionnaires in advance, choose a quiet and private space with stable internet, and have water or snacks available. We’ll take a 15-minute break midway. Because this is a focused, in-depth day of therapeutic work, it can feel tiring in a productive way, many clients find it helpful to plan for some rest or lighter demands afterward.

What states do you offer therapy intensives in?
Therapy intensives are offered via secure telehealth to clients who are physically located in PSYPACT-participating states at the time of service. PSYPACT is an interstate agreement that allows licensed psychologists to practice across state lines.
I currently work with clients in states including Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. If you’re unsure whether I can work with you based on your location, feel free to reach out and I’m happy to help you confirm.

Who are therapy intensives a good fit for—and who are they not a fit for?
Therapy intensives are a good fit for adults who want focused, structured support and are looking for momentum rather than open-ended weekly therapy. They work especially well for people experiencing burnout, overwhelm, nervous system dysregulation, executive functioning challenges, or feeling stuck in repeating patterns. Intensives are not a fit for individuals who are currently in crisis or need a higher level of care. If that’s the case, I’m always happy to help with referrals to more appropriate supports.

How is an intensive different from weekly therapy?
An intensive offers extended, focused time to understand patterns, practice skills, and create a clear plan in one day, rather than spreading this work across many weekly sessions. Many clients use intensives as a jump-start, a reset, or a skills boost, and then decide whether ongoing therapy is needed afterward.
